Manufacturing lead times, shipping delays and tariffs forced these new customers to explore domestic manufactures who could provide better flexibility and delivery at competitive prices.
Situation
Manufacturers of pest, weed and landscaping spray equipment have been experiencing an increase in the cost of importing hose for their spray rigs. Lead times from overseas suppliers were running in excess of 60 days, constant shipping delays and the cost of tariffs began to factor into their decision to search for a domestic provider.
Opportunity
As the companies begin their search, they identified other factors that were important to them including various coil lengths in place of standard 300-foot and 400-foot options, private brand labeled print sequences and greater flexibility with colors to match their equipment. Meeting the needs of their resale customers was also a common factor. Our team recognized that we could provide tremendous value in all of these areas.
Action Taken
Initial conversations with these companies were focused on understanding their requirements to learn how we could best meet their needs. With open communication and the ability to consistently stock and frequently manufacture the appropriate hose types and lengths, we were able to successfully partner with multiple new customers, bringing the business back to the USA.
We offer in-house extrusion and just in time manufacturing which allows for more flexibility than most hose suppliers. By understanding the customer’s needs, we adjusted our stocking levels to accommodate their limited warehouse space and blanket orders allowed for shorter-lead times and product on demand
