Custom Solution for a Food Washdown Hose
A rubber and hydraulics company needed a specialized washdown hose to meet specific price, pressure and temperature requirements.
Situation
An Atlanta-based supplier of rubber and hydraulics solutions was searching for a hose whose cover was resistant to animal fats. The hose also needed to take some temperature given the operating environment. While they had sourced an option, they continued to experience coupling issues that needed addressed. The coupling issues caused the hose to fail sooner than it should. As a result, the client viewed the hose as disposable.
Opportunity
In addition to the coupling issue, the company had to work within a target price and pressure. Flex-Tech is well-versed in working through scenarios like this, where strict requirements must be met.
Action Taken
The customer contacted Flex-Tech and was immediately excited to learn about a brand-new PVC compound that was developed for a similar application. We suspected that it would be an ideal solution for this problem. After drawings and specifications were developed, we produced a trial run that went perfectly, and the price was competitive with the existing hose.
Results Generated
Once the hose was incorporated into the product, we continued to work with the client to address other minor issues including identifying a coupling that specifically met their needs. We regularly supply hose that was previously considered dispoable to the customer, saving them money in the long run. The customer has referred to Flex-Tech as "the Cadillac of hoses for their industry" and they have been happy with our responsivenesss and ability to solve problems.
